Read MoreI have just recently started my journey to spend more time reading Scripture daily however, I must admit that I get distracted by the responsibilities as a mom at home, manager at work, and commitments at my church. As a result, I have slowed down my reading drastically and when I pick up from where I have left off I find myself feeling discouraged.
I have been praying to God and asking Him to show me other ways to spend time with Him by reading His Word. He has shown me to pick a verse and to meditate on it. When I slow down and meditate on a verse it allows me to understand what God is trying to teach me.
I recently attended an annual Women’s Day Apart event and the verse that was featured at this event was:
I decided to write down this verse in my journal and break it down even further. I asked myself: What are the behaviours and customs of this world? What does transform mean? What do I think? How do I think? How am I able to change the way I think? How can I allow God to transform me into a person? What have I learned thus far of what truly is God’s will for me?
Four pages later, I have learned so much more about God and how to be more like Him. The Holy Spirit can ultimately help me change the way I think, which is typically very negative. My old way of thinking was, “I am not enough”, “I am not capable”, or I was more concerned about what others thought of me. In that very moment He taught me that I am enough and that I am forgiven.
His will for me is to grow in my relationship with Him, to guide my children to grow in relationship with Him, to provide my children a strong foundational knowledge about God and the Bible, to spread His Word, to encourage others to grow closer to God, and most importantly to continue blogging.
I hope this post will encourage you to stay even longer in His presence by reading His Word. If you found this helpful, I will leave you with FREE printable handouts of Scripture to dwell on. You can print them out, cut them into sections and carry them with you.

Reading and meditating on Scripture is an important part of my faith and walk with Jesus Christ. I used to be overwhelmed at the idea of trying to fit it in, but actually, I find that if you commit to a particular time and practice doing this on a daily basis, it becomes so much more than routine, but rather an opportunity to spend time in God’s presence and Word for your life.
For me personally, I wake up in the morning, take a shower, get dressed, and then spend time in prayer to connect with the Father. After I pray, I read His Word in no particular order, but pick a place and just begin reading and meditating on it. Wherever I land in the Bible, I know that God’s Word encourages, teaches, and gives peace to me to start my day.
Doing this everyday has helped me connect with God in a purposeful way even for a few minutes. We can get so easily bogged down in our schedules that we forget that God is there, patiently waiting for us to return to Him, and spend time with Him. It’s the most important and most rewarding part of my day!
Thanks for your encouraging blog post. I look forward to experiencing God’s love and peace together as we journey in our faith.
